Samuel pulled a notebook from a shelf.
“We suspected someone was giving you something,” he said. “We just didn’t know what or how often.”
I gripped the blanket around my shoulders.
“You knew?”
“We had suspicions,” Tobias answered. “I never had proof. Every time I tried to get close to the house, Garrett’s security team noticed me. I couldn’t risk confronting him without evidence.”
“What could he have been giving me?”
“We don’t know yet,” Samuel said carefully. “We won’t guess. We need medical tests, your prescriptions, and samples of anything he may have been using.”
The thought made my skin crawl.
My husband had kissed me goodnight, tucked blankets around me, and watched me drink something he had prepared with his own hands.
How many times had I thanked him?
How many times had I told him I was lucky to have him?
I felt sick.
Then Tobias slid the flash drive across the table.
