Garrett stared at the documents as though they were weapons.
“You thought I didn’t know about the card you opened in my name,” I said. “You thought I didn’t know your mother was listed as the mailing address. You thought I didn’t know tonight’s reservation was made under my business account.”
Vivian murmured, “Garrett.”
He rounded on her. “Shut up.”
That single response revealed more than a confession.
Minutes later, two officers entered, followed by hotel security. Elise returned carrying a tablet, her expression noticeably colder.
“We reviewed the footage,” she said. “It clearly shows him throwing the wine and attempting to take her phone.”
Garrett swallowed.
I rose slowly, damp hair clinging to my cheek, and faced him without fear for the first time that evening.
“You told me to pay,” I said. “So I did. I paid attention.”
An officer instructed Garrett to move away from the table.
