Beatrice’s jaw tightened. She took a step back toward the hallway, her face turning pale. “That… that is absurd! I cared for that boy!”
“You paid Dr. Vance $500,000 to insert an acoustic dampener into an two-year-old child’s ear canal,” Victoria spoke up, holding up her phone screen showing the digital serial number cross-referenced with the state medical device registry. “And the transaction records are stored in the public database under Vance Tech’s corporate ledger.”
Dr. Vance, realizing his medical license and freedom were entirely gone, turned on Beatrice instantly.
“She forced me!” Dr. Vance yelled, pointing a shaking finger at Beatrice. “She threatened to pull her investment firm’s funding from my clinic if I didn’t install the dampener and falsify the auditory reports!”
Beatrice let out a sharp, hysterical shriek, turning on her heel to flee down the grand marble staircase toward the front entrance.
