My Husband Left Me to Drown—But My “Paralyzed” Brother Stood Up and Exposed the Deadly Secret Behind Our Family’s Tragedy

Garrett’s face lost its color.

“Where did you get these?”

Eleanor folded her hands.

“From the records your family failed to destroy.”

He slammed the folder shut.

“These documents are incomplete. They’re being taken out of context.”

“Then you should have no trouble explaining them,” said Agent Brooks, stepping into the room.

Garrett stared at her.

Two investigators entered behind her.

“You’re under investigation for financial fraud, conspiracy, and attempted murder,” she said. “We also have evidence linking you to the deliberate destruction of property and the falsification of corporate records.”

He looked around the table as if expecting someone to rescue him.

Then he laughed.

“Attempted murder? My wife is dead.”

“No,” said a voice from the doorway. “I’m not.”

Every head turned.

I walked into the room.

Garrett looked as though he had seen something impossible. His mouth opened, but no sound emerged.

Penelope, who had been standing beside him, took a step backward.
