My Husband Changed the Locks on My Condo and Threw Me Out—Then the Police Found Out What He Was Hiding Inside

Eventually, Adrian and I reached a divorce settlement addressing our respective rights and obligations.

The condo remained in my name under the final property arrangements.

Adrian received the assets and obligations allocated to him through the settlement.

And our lives finally separated.

I wasn’t required to surrender my home simply because he resented not owning it.

One afternoon, several months after the divorce, I received a message from Marjorie.

It was the first time she’d contacted me directly since moving out.

“I never meant for things to get so ugly.”

I stared at the words.

Then another message arrived.

“I was only trying to help my son.”

I thought about my grandmother.

The white bathrobe.

The photograph in the hallway.

The way Marjorie had stood inside my home and called it her son’s.

I could have written pages.

Explained every boundary.

Described every hurt.

But I’d already spent six years explaining.
