“We’re still establishing that. We have evidence consistent with unauthorized administration of medication and falsified medical records.”
“Was Vanessa arrested?”
“She and Cameron are in custody. Your husband is being questioned.”
I stared at her.
“Questioned?”
“Elena, I can’t discuss all the investigative steps, but I want you to know we’re taking this seriously.”
My throat tightened.
“Did they find any videos?”
She paused.
“Yes.”
The word knocked the breath from my chest.
“What kind?”
“Some appear to document staged medical assessments and attempts to obtain reactions from your daughter while she was impaired. They’re being examined as evidence.”
I pressed both hands against my face.
I had imagined a thousand horrors.
Not once had I imagined that my little girl was being used as a prop in a financial scheme.
Hayes leaned closer.
