## 9. A Sudden Severe Headache
A sudden unexplained severe headache can sometimes occur with a stroke or TIA.
It is particularly concerning when accompanied by:
* Weakness
* Numbness
* Vision changes
* Vomiting
* Confusion
* Difficulty speaking
* Severe dizziness
The American Stroke Association includes a sudden severe headache without an apparent cause among recognized warning symptoms.
Not every headache is related to stroke, but an abrupt and unusual headache with neurological symptoms should be treated urgently.
## Why Mini-Strokes Are So Easy to Miss
A TIA can be deceptive because symptoms often disappear quickly.
Someone may experience weakness or speech difficulty for a few minutes and then suddenly feel normal again.
That temporary recovery can create a false sense of safety.
According to the American Stroke Association, TIA symptoms can last only minutes, and symptoms that disappear in less than an hour still require emergency evaluation.
