I Was a Broke Single Mom Who Agreed to Care for a Millionaire With Only 5 Days to Live. That Night, I Placed My Baby on His Chest—Then His Fingers Suddenly Moved. “Don’t Tell Anyone I’m Awake,” He Whispered. I Quietly Closed the Door and Stayed Silent… Until I Discovered Why His Own Family Was So Eager to Bury Him.

Julian walked into the foyer, talking animatedly on his phone. “I need you at the house right now because—”

He froze dead in his tracks.

The phone slipped from his hand, clattering against the hardwood floor.

First, he saw Arthur Vance. Then the detectives. Then me, holding Leo.

Finally, his eyes landed on his uncle.

Grant was sitting in his favorite armchair in the grand living room. Not bedridden. Not hooked to monitors.

Sitting upright. Hands resting firmly on his cane.

Julian turned ghost-white. “Uncle Grant…?”

“Good afternoon, Julian.”

“What… what are you doing out of bed?”

“That’s hardly the most interesting question you should be asking,” Grant replied coldly, gesturing to the sofa opposite him. “Sit down.”

Julian didn’t move. “The doctor said you were completely paralyzed.”

“Dr. Barragan has said a lot of things lately.”

Julian panicked, glancing toward the front entrance. One of the LAPD detectives casually stepped in front of the door, blocking his exit.
